Overview
In the early 2000s, the Volkswagen GTI was experiencing similar results to a declining professional athlete – bloated appearance, slumping performance, and general apathy from the community that once loved it so dearly – so in 2006, when the Mk5 GTI was launched, fans flocked back to the hot hatch like never before. With a completely re-designed interior, new 2-liter turbo engine and improved handling, the GTI was a winner again.
