1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe
Overview
Based loosely upon the AC Cobra, the Shelby Daytona Coupe was built with the goal of defeating Ferrari in GT racing. Only six Daytona Coupes were ever built, as the staff working on it were re-assigned to the highly successful Ford GT40 project; however, the Daytona had success on the racetrack, winning the 1964 12 Hours of Sebring, 1964 24 Hours of Le Mans, as well as the Italian, German and French Grand Prix races the next year.
