Overview
Carroll Shelby is a pretty smart guy, but more than a few people thought he was barking mad when he announced one of his pet projects: to turn one of the most lifeless, disappointing cars on the planet - the 2006 Ford Mustang V6 – into the snarling ponycar from hell. To Shelby’s credit, he pulled it off, creating the Shelby Terlingua, a 375-horse beast, by affixing a Paxton supercharger to the 4-liter V6 that Motor Trend once famously quipped ‘belongs at the end of an anchor’. But he didn’t stop there, upgrading the ‘Stang’s suspension, with independent MacPherson struts in the front and three-link coil spring Panhard rod suspension in the rear, as well as adding a NOVI-1200 compressor with an air and water change cooler to the engine, making the 165-horse increase smoother.
