Overview
Known internally at Audi Sport as the ‘R16’, the R8 LMS is the first purpose-built racecar based on the R8 platform. Its 493-horse V10 was designed for use on the FIA GT3 European Championship, but in order for it to get on the track, Audi’s legendary Quattro four-wheel drive system had to be disabled, making the LMS the only Audi to utilize a rear-wheel drive system.
